National Geographic Channel - Sea Patrol UK
These images were created as splash pages to promote the show.
As is so often the case, the project had certain requirements that felt a little detrimental to the cohesiveness of the images as a whole, but which were essential to the concept. Specifically, in this case, the helicopter. As one of the “stars” of the show, it had to be instantly instantly recognisable so, rather than being lit by storms & artificial light, its bright yellow colour had to be clearly seen. In addition to this, the underside had to be silhouetted to make it clearly visible against the cliffs.
Finally, the type had to be extra legible so I was limited in how distressed I could make it.
There were two versions of the image, landscape & portrait, & below I have created a third “more agreeable” version of the portrait image without the original constraints.
